Everards Burrough League Fixtures
The Burrough League is played on Tuesday nights with local teams from Leicestershire and Rutland. The League also has a knockout cup competition played evenings during the week. Most matches start at 6.30pm and runs for the 10 weeks from spring to mid summer. Below is a selection of match reports Tuesday 16th June 2009
Melton won by 52 runs at Hoby and Rotherby Melton Mowbray Cricket Club are sponsored by Melton Building Society & L & H Exhausts. Hoby and Rotherby won the toss and elected to put Melton into bat. Gary Potter (36) and captain Paul Stevenson (43) opened the batting with an excellent stand of 77 in only seven overs before Melton underwent a collapse and lost 5 quick wickets. Lee Jones (13) and Jamie Culy (15*) steadied the ship to take Melton to a respectable total of 135 in 18 overs. The pick of the bowlers was G Swann with 3 for 30 from 5 overs. Hoby and Rotherby started brightly but were pinned back by accurate bowling by Lee Jones. Paul Stevenson (3 for 6) brought himself on in the 8th over and two wickets in two balls effectively ended the home sides’ chances. Paul was denied a hattrick by a dropped catch in the deep. The Hoby and Rotherby innings was wrapped up by Jamie Culy (4 for 7) who twice took 2 wickets in 2 balls to bowl out the home side for 83 off the final ball of the innings.
