Great News
With the Tuesday night Everards Cricket matches finishing as the evenings become shorter it looks like good news for Rupert Smallshaw and his team. Yet to be confirmed by the League but initial calculations show we have earned promotion to the 2nd Division. It has been a varied season but with many individual performances we will be reflecting on a real team effort.
WELL DONE!

Burrough League Win for Plucky Melton Side!
Tuesday night saw Melton take on Queniborough, with Queniborough batting first and taking the bowlers to task. Melton pulled it together but with at least 4 decisions not going Meltons way things were looking bleak. Queniborough finished on 125.
Melton came out to bat but with some good bowling from M.Mulla Melton found themselves 4 down and only 40 runs on the board.
Then to the crease came Paul Stevenson and Sam Collington. At one stage in the fightback Melton still required 10 runs per over but these two stuck to their task, striking the bad balls for 4's and 6's the run rate came down to six in the final 2 overs. The first ball of the penultimate over went for two wides and now the run rate was 5 an over. Stevenson went next ball for 29, swinging on a straignt delivery and it was left to Collington to finish off the procedings with a game winning 6.
WELL DONE MELTON!

SUMMER LOTTERY GAME
And we have a WINNER! Well 3 to be precise. Won in week 6 of game 2 by:
Peter Hood, Alice Lissaman and Barbara-Anne Parker Congratulations!!!
Who each take away £68.00 each.
Game 3 starts on Saturday 2nd August
Good Luck Everyone!!!
Saturday 26th in brief.
A win and a loss for our teams yesterday.
Barrie Cousins' 2nd XI hosted Gracedieu Park at the All England Sports Ground and managed to pull out a nailbiting win. Marcus Hurrell having an outstanding day with bat and ball scoring over 70 and taking 4 wickets.
Our first XI team travelled out to Church Langton but didn't fair to well in the heat. Opening bowlers Paul Stevenson and Ben Redwood put on a controlled display of bowling and after just 15 overs the home side were 4 wickets down for only 38 runs on the board. A stand of 150 though for the Langtons put Melton onto the back foot who could only muster 146 in reply. Not the best day for the firsts but with some individual performances from Steve Taylor (41) who continues a rich run of form and some nice left arm over medium pace bowling from Jack Moncieff were something to take away.

Up to Date . . .?
Sorry to all the regular visitors to this site but the delay in news has been partly down to a computer problem, all back on line now and all pages will be updated over the next week. I will endevour to update this site 3 times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
A Special note now for the departure of Kevin Thorpe from the Club. Kevin has served the club for many years as captain, groundsman, leading committee member and Club Captain. It is very doubtful that anyone could bring as much passion for their cricket as Kev has. We wish him well in his new ventures.
Thanks Kev.
